As a trusted supplier to Manchester Airport Human Recognition Systems were requested to support the automation of the Passenger Exit Lanes at Manchester Airport Terminals 1 and 3. The previous security solution to managing this high throughput passenger waypoint was for an Airport Security Officer to man this fixed post to detect and deter security violations including back tracking of passengers to the Airside.
With Human Recognition Systems support and its deployment of the MFlow Exit Lanes advanced behavioural analytics solution HRS were able to work closely with and satisfy the Airport, its stakeholders and security regulators that an automated solution comparable, and in many instances superior, to a security officer was viable.
The focus on the project and solution was for a system that was proactive to emerging security threats whilst minimising false alerts that would otherwise be detrimental to the business case and operational viability of the system.
Following successful deployment in March 2008 of Terminals 1 and 3 HRS were invited back in 2010 to complete Terminal 2 during its renovation.
All told the solution offers an operating saving of circa £200k per annum with payback for Terminal 2 within 12 months.
